JKD Photography's owner, Jonelle, who goes by Joni (pronounced as Johnny), is a portrait photographer with a studio location in Highland, which is a tiny town located in southwest Wisconsin. Highland happens to be where Joni grew up and where her & her husband chose to raise their 3 children, Tucker, Tanner & Hazel. 
 

Joni started exploring photography after the arrival of her oldest child. She wanted something different from what was offered in our area for newborn photography and at the time was unable to afford a professional experience for the type of images she was after. Joni started toying around with photography (with a point and shoot camera at that). By the time their second child arrived she had worked her way up to a DSLR and had developed an extreme passion for photography. Fueled by a degree in visual communication, a background in customer service, and countless hours spent behind the camera her photography quickly blossomed. In 2016, Joni turned her hobby into a full time career which turned out to be one of the best decisions of her life. About 5 years later, JKD Photography Studio, opened which has created endless creative opportunities. 

JKD photo sessions are not your normal sit here, do that, smile at the camera sessions. Our photographs are the perfect mix of classic and candid. Joni is known for creating an easy going, laid back & fun atmosphere which makes even the most apprehensive of clients at ease which is one of the reasons she specializes in high school senior and families sessions from newborn to the largest of extended families. Joni has the experience & eye to set up those perfect poses while capturing all the fun & laughs of the in betweens during her sessions which produce galleries full of timeless treasures.  She believes the session experience is just as important as the photographs delivered, and develops strong connections and relationships with many clients, many of whom have become very good friends. She views her clients as family and her goal is to give you photos that are timeless heirlooms to cherish throughout generations. 

When Joni's not chasing light and following her career dreams you can find her supporting her children at their many sporting events, on the lake or river with family and friends, chilling at her parent's at the pool, camping and in the winter... Actually, Joni isn't big on winter, unless it's photography related. Needless to say she usually has a camera in tow, but sometimes finds it's important to put that camera away & just be present (at least for a moment).
