Hi, I’m Jonelle—though most people know me as Joni (pronounced like "Johnny"). I’m the owner and photographer behind JKD Photography, based in the small, close-knit town of Highland in southwest Wisconsin. Highland isn’t just where I work—it’s where I grew up, and where my husband and I chose to raise our three amazing kids: Tucker, Tanner, and Hazel.

My journey into photography began after the birth of our oldest child. At the time, I was searching for newborn photography that truly resonated with me—something more meaningful than what was locally available—but we couldn’t quite afford a professional experience. So I picked up a point-and-shoot camera and started experimenting. By the time our second child was born, I had upgraded to a DSLR and discovered an intense passion for capturing life through a lens.

With an education in visual communication, a background in customer service, and countless hours of learning and practice, my hobby quickly blossomed into something more. In 2016, I took the leap and turned photography into a full-time career—one of the best decisions of my life. Five years later, JKD Photography Studio opened its doors, giving me the space and creative freedom to bring even more visions to life.

At JKD, sessions aren’t your typical “sit still and smile” experience. I aim for the perfect balance of timeless, classic portraits and candid, genuine moments. I’m known for creating a relaxed, fun atmosphere where even the most camera-shy clients feel comfortable. That’s why I specialize in high school seniors, newborns, families of all sizes—including extended families—and everything in between.

I believe the session experience should be just as memorable as the images we create together. Over the years, I’ve built lasting relationships with many of my clients—some have even become dear friends. To me, you’re not just booking a session; you’re inviting someone to help preserve your family’s story. It’s my honor to capture those memories and turn them into timeless heirlooms that can be cherished for generations.

When I’m not behind the camera (or at my desk), you’ll likely find me cheering on my kids at their many sporting events, soaking up the sun on the boat, and spending time with friends and family. And in the winter? Let’s say I’m not the biggest fan of that weather—unless there’s a camera in hand and a beautiful snowy backdrop and awesome people in front of it to capture.

Thank you so much for stopping by, learning a little more about me and JKD Photography, and taking the time to view my work. Be sure to visit the JKD Photography Facebook page for the latest sneak peeks and session highlights. I can’t wait to meet you and help tell your story—just as it is, right now.
